Shoichi Okumura

Working in mineral pigments on silk canvas which is the traditional media of the Chinese landscape painting, Shoichi brings the traditions into the 21st century by blending natural elements, modern subjects and manmade instruments of movement. Each piece of his work contains a myriad of wonderful details, and the background is the one of the attractive parts. Using multiple perspectives, a host of ethereal worlds appear to float around and within each other, drawing the eyes to every inch of his compositions, and back again.
